Wire Wrapping: Learning How To... Eventually

I've had an idea for a while now to try to make some more wire wrapped jewelry that feature buttons. I don't have a lot of experience with wire wrapping other than simple rings and the lapel pins. I want to ultimately learn more intricate techniques.

Last night I over bought some seed beads.

They were half off and I wasn't able to narrow down the colors I needed most so I just got them all (maybe not all, but it looks like it). I already had some beads from back in the 90s (don't laugh) from when I used to do loom weaving. Only problem was that I never knew what to do with the finished product so I lost interest in it. My seed bead collection was pretty limited and it was all a big jumbled mess anyway from that time I dropped the storage container on the floor (don't laugh again). This is my fresh start.

I saw the teardrop shape and thought it would be a perfect to give my idea a try for a pair of earrings.

It took a while to find the right button to use. I wanted something bright. You can never go wrong with yellow! These are 19mm La Mode buttons I also found last night on my unplanned craft supply shopping spree.

They turned out exactly like I wanted. Not bad for a first try!
